Oh Canada! The first unit in Social Studies that we will be
studying is Canadian Government. I consider myself so blessed to live in this wonderful country, and I look forward to exploring Canada with you.

As Canadian citizens, we should all know the words (and sing them proudly) to our National Anthem. Here they are! I can't wait to hear you singing loudly every morning!
Official English
O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
Official French
Ô Canada!
Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!
Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,
Il sait porter la croix!
Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brillants exploits.
Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.

Below are some maps of Canada - the Political map (which shows the provinces, territories and their capitals), the Physical map (which shows the landform regions), the Climate map (which shows weather zones), and the Vegetation map (which shows the different natural vegetation in the various regions of Canada). For some of you this is a great chance to remember some things you learned about Canada in Grade 4, and for others it may be some new information. Either way, it will help you understand Canada a bit better!
